    Seth Rogen

    Seth Aaron Rogen, actor, comedian, writer, producer, director (born 15 April 1982 in Vancouver, BC). Seth Rogen is one of Hollywood’s leading comedic stars. He is famous for playing characters that are sweetly naïve, slyly intelligent and utterly profane. He was initially known for his collaborations with writer-producer Judd Apatow on the TV series Freaks and Geeks and such films as The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), Knocked Up (2007) and Superbad (2007). Rogen has since produced and co-directed his own comedies, such as This Is the End (2013), The Interview (2014) and the streaming series The Studio (2025), for which he won four Emmy Awards. Known as “the stoner king of comedy,” Rogen was named Comedy Star of the Year in 2008 by the US National Association of Theater Owners. He has twice been named Canadian Comedy Person of the Year at the Canadian Comedy Awards. He and his creative partner Evan Goldberg were inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame in 2018.

    Shaaw Tláa (Kate Carmack)

    Shaaw Tláa (a.k.a Kate Carmack), (born c. 1857-1867 near present-day Bennett Lake, YT; died 29 March 1920 in Carcross, YT). A Tagish woman, Shaaw Tláa (pronounced Shaw Claw) was part of the group that discovered gold near the Klondike River in 1896, sparking the Klondike Gold Rush. She and her husband George Carmack, a white American, had spent a decade in search of gold in the Yukon. They made $1 million from their gold claim; however, George later abandoned her and she was unsuccessful in suing for her half of the fortune.

    Shadrach Kabango (a.k.a. Shad, Shad K.), rapper, singer, songwriter, radio host (born 18 July 1982 in Kenya). Witty, passionate and earnest, Shad is a Juno Award-winning rapper known for his sharp, socially conscious lyrics. His playful musical style blends rap and hip-hop with rock, R&B and other genres. In 2008 and 2010, the National Post named him the best rapper in Canada, and in 2013 CBC Music ranked him No. 2 in their list of the 25 Greatest Canadian Rappers Ever. Paste magazine hailed him in 2013 as “Canada’s most talented, genuine musical artist and one of the industry’s finest poets.” Shad has been nominated for the Polaris Music Prize four times (2008, 2010, 2014, 2019) and hosted CBC Radio One’s flagship talk show q from April 2015 to August 2016.

    Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

    Shaivonte “Shai” Aician Gilgeous-Alexander, basketball player (born 12 July 1998 in Toronto, ON). Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is one of the National Basketball Association’s elite guards. He has played with the Oklahoma City Thunder since the 2019–20 season. He has also represented Canada internationally. He led Team Canada to a bronze medal at the 2023 FIBA World Cup and a berth at the 2024 Olympic Summer Games in Paris. In 2023, Gilgeous-Alexander became the second basketball player (after Steve Nash) to win the Northern Star Award and the Lionel Conacher Award in the same year. In 2025, after a dominant season that Sports Illustrated said “can only be compared to Michael Jordan,” SGA became the second Canadian player after Nash to be named NBA MVP. Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder to an NBA Championship in 2025, becoming only the fourth player in NBA history (after Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal) to win the scoring title, regular season MVP, Finals MVP and a championship in the same season. He won both the Lionel Conacher Award and the Northern Star Award a second time in 2025, making him the tenth recipient to win the Northern Star Award more than once. On 12 March 2026, Gilgeous-Alexander scored at least 20 points in a 127th consecutive game, breaking American Wilt Chamberlain's record set in 1963.
