    Herbert Cyril Thacker

    Herbert Cyril Thacker, CB, CMG, DSO, artillery officer, military attaché, chief of the general staff 1927–28 (born 16 September 1870 in Poona, India; died 2 June 1953 in Victoria, BC). Thacker was commissioned into the Royal Canadian Artillery in 1891. He fought in the South African War and accompanied the Japanese army as military attaché during the Russo-Japanese War 1904-05, the first appointment of its kind for a Canadian officer. Thacker commanded two divisional artilleries in the Canadian Expeditionary Force, 1915–19.

    Herbert G. Turner. Teacher, b Oxford, England, 26 Feb 1883, d Edmonton 4 Jul 1963. After voice and trumpet studies in England and a brief period of military service, Turner moved to Edmonton in 1907. There he and his wife opened a voice studio in 1913.

    Herbert (Herb) Young Gaisano, FRCPC, OOnt, clinician, scientist (born 28 December 1956 Cebu City, Philippines). Dr. Gaisano teaches in the Departments of Medicine and Physiology at the University of Toronto. Gaisano has dedicated his clinical research to uncovering the underlying mechanisms of diabetes and pancreatitis (swelling of the pancreas). His groundbreaking work in the field of internal medicine has been recognized with an appointment to the Order of Ontario and a Canada Research Chair in Diseases of the Endocrine and Exocrine Pancreas.

    Herbert Greenfield

    Herbert Greenfield, farmer, politician, businessman, premier of Alberta 1921–25 (born 25 November 1867 in Winchester, England; died 23 August 1949 in Calgary, AB). Herbert Greenfield immigrated to Canada in 1892. He established a homestead north of Edmonton in 1906. By 1921, he was president of the Alberta Association of Municipal Districts and an interim vice-president of the United Farmers of Alberta (UFA).

    Herbert Hollick-Kenyon, aviator (b at London, Eng 17 Apr 1897; d at Vancouver 30 July 1975). He immigrated with his family in 1909 to Ewing's Landing, BC, and joined the Canadian Army in 1914. Twice wounded in France, he was invalided home and in 1917 joined the Royal Flying Corps.

    Herbert J. Sadler. Organist, choir conductor, teacher, b Bristol 6 Sep 1894, d Winnipeg 21 Apr 1955. Sadler and his parents arrived in Canada in 1911 and settled in Winnipeg. He had been trained as an organist and he served four years in that capacity at St Peter's Anglican Church.
