W.G. Richardson
(1933 – 2019)
William George Richardson was born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. He joined the Department of Engineering at Queen’s University in Kingston in 1965. He introduced the university’s first courses on the history of engineering. He is author of Queen’s Engineers: A Century of Applied Science (1893 -1993), which traces the story of the Engineering and Applied Science faculty from its origins as the Ontario School of Mining and Agriculture in 1893 until its 100th anniversary in 1993. His work examines various aspects of the engineering departments, including the contributions of deans, accomplishments of alumni and the arrival of women in the faculty.
